人里を離れた山の奥、花らしい花はまだなくても、蕗のとうならもう顔を出している。誰に見せるでもなく、春は春の仕事をしている。山道でふとそれを見つけたときの、小さくあたたかい驚きが、そのまま伝わってくる。Deep in the mountains, far from any village, even if there are as yet no proper flowers, the butterbur shoots at least have already poked up. For no one to see, spring goes about spring's work. The small, warm surprise of coming upon them on a mountain path comes through just as it was.
