七月二十二日帰庵Returned to the hermitage, the twenty-second of July
ふたたびここに草もしげるままonce again here the grass grown thick and left that way
ふたたび ここに くさも しげるままfutatabi koko ni kusa mo shigeru mama

七月二十二日、長い旅を終えて其中庵に帰りついた。庵の草は伸び放題のまま迎えてくれる。「しげるまま」を咎めず受け入れるところに、帰ってきた者の安堵がある。On the twenty-second of July, ending a long journey, he arrived back at Gochū-an. The hermitage's grass, left to run wild, is there to greet him. In not reproaching the "grown thick and left that way" but accepting it, there is the ease of one who has come home.
