前句の友、多々桜の霊前での句。見舞いにひらけと願った桃の花は実となったが、君はもういない。実る季節まで生きられなかった友を、桃の実の確かさが静かに悼んでいる。Written before the memorial tablet of the same friend, Tatara. The peach blossoms he had willed to open have turned to fruit, but his friend is no longer here. The sureness of the ripened fruit quietly mourns the man who did not live to see the season come.
