鉢の子は、行乞の僧が米や銭を受ける鉄の鉢のこと。持ちものはこれ一つ、あとは春風が吹いているだけ。何も持たない身軽さと、それゆえの心細さが、春のやわらかい風のなかでひとつに溶け合っている。山頭火の代表句のひとつとして知られる。The hachi no ko is the iron bowl in which a mendicant monk receives rice or coins. This one bowl is all he owns; beyond it, only the spring wind is blowing. The lightness of possessing nothing and the loneliness that comes with it melt into one in the soft spring wind. Known as one of Santōka's signature poems.
