果てのあてもない旅の途中で、つくつくぼうしが鳴いている。夏の終わりを告げる蝉の声が、行く先の定まらない身に沁みてくる。それでも、この句は嘆いてはいない。鳴き声を道連れにして、今日もまた歩き出すだけである。Midway through a journey with no end in sight, a tsukutsukubōshi cicada is crying. The voice that announces summer's close sinks into a body with nowhere fixed to go. Yet the poem does not grieve. Taking the cry as his companion, he simply sets out to walk again.
