花いばら、ここの土とならうよwild roses — let me become the soil of this place

「川棚温泉」と前書のある句。野ばらの咲くこの土地が気に入って、いっそここの土になろうよ、と花に語りかける。骨を埋めるという重い話を、花いばらの明るさがやわらかく受けとめている。A poem headed "Kawatana Hot Spring." So taken with this land where wild roses bloom, he speaks to the flowers: let me just become the soil of this place. The heavy thought of laying his bones here is softly received by the brightness of the wild roses.
