石をまつり水のわくところa stone enshrined where the water wells up

水の湧くかたわらに、小さな石が祀られている。名のある神ではなく、湧き水そのものへの感謝のしるしだろう。旅人ものどをうるおして手を合わせる。水のあるところに、祈りは自然に生まれる。Beside where the water wells up, a small stone has been enshrined — probably not for any named god, but as a token of gratitude to the spring itself. The traveler too wets his throat and joins his palms. Where there is water, prayer arises of its own accord.
