長雨がようやく上がって、重なる山の向こうから、また別の山がひょいと顔をのぞかせる。山が山をのぞきこんでいる、そんな童話のようなおかしみがある。雨に洗われた梅雨晴れの光が、景色をまるごと新しくしている。The long rains have at last let up, and past the overlapping mountains yet another mountain pokes out its face. There is a fairy-tale humor in it, as if mountain were peeking at mountain. The light of the rain-washed clearing makes the whole landscape new.
