托鉢して歩く道すがら、水音がどこまでもついてくる。家々の軒先で経を唱え、断られ、また歩く。その繰り返しのかたわらを、水だけは変わらぬ音で流れつづけている。As he walks his begging round, the sound of water follows him everywhere. At the eaves of house after house he chants a sutra, is turned away, and walks on. Alongside that repetition, the water alone flows on with its unchanging sound.
