永平寺 三句Eihei-ji — three poems
水音のたえずして御仏とありthe sound of water never ceasing I am here with the Buddha
みずおとの たえずして みほとけと ありmizuoto no taezushite mihotoke to ari

永平寺での句。山ふところの伽藍には、たえず水音が流れている。その音の中に御仏とともにある。説法よりも読経よりも、絶えない水の音が修行の場の深さを語っている。A poem at Eihei-ji. Through the temple halls in the mountain's fold the sound of water flows without cease. Within that sound he is together with the Buddha. More than sermon or sutra-chanting, the unceasing sound of water speaks the depth of this place of training.
