千人風呂での句。大きな湯船で、みんな裸になれば身分も肩書もない。だから話がはずむ。「はづみます」という丁寧な言い方まで、湯気の中でくつろいでいる。A verse at the Sennin-buro, the great public bath. In the large tub, once everyone is naked there is no rank or title, and so the conversation flows. Even the polite turn of "hazumimasu" seems to relax in the rising steam.
