木枯らしの吹く日、一軒の家の門に日の丸が二つ。この家は二人も戦地へ送り出しているのだ。旗の数が、その家から欠けた人の数。寒風にはためく二本の旗を、句はただ数えている。On a day of cold winter wind, at the gate of one house hang two rising-sun flags. This household has sent two men off to war. The number of flags is the number of people missing from that house. The verse simply counts the two banners snapping in the cold wind.
