遺骨を迎えての句。名誉の戦死と讃える「いさましく」と、こみあげる本心の「かなしく」。ふたつの言葉が、ひとつの白い函の上に並ぶ。どちらか一方に決めることをせず、句はそのまま終わる。A verse on receiving the ashes of the dead.
