案山子もがつちり日の丸ふつてゐるeven the scarecrow gamely waving the rising-sun flag

田んぼの案山子にまで日の丸が持たされ、風を受けて旗を振っているように見える。出征を送る旗の波が、田の中まで及んだ時代。「がつちり」というけなげな踏んばりに、複雑なおかしみが残る。Even the scarecrow in the paddy has been made to hold a rising-sun flag, and in the wind it seems to be waving it. An age when the waves of flags seeing off soldiers reached even into the fields. In its plucky, dogged stance there lingers a complicated kind of comedy.
