おかずのない、飯ばかりの飯を、草に座ってしみじみと食べる。行乞途上の句を昭和十五年二月にさらに改めたかたち。「しみじみ」の一語で、わびしさよりも味わいの深さが前に出ている。Sitting in the grass, he eats plain rice with nothing on it, savoring it deeply. A form he further revised in February 1940 from a poem made on his begging travels. With the single word "savoring," it is the depth of the taste, more than the loneliness, that comes forward.
