なるほど信濃の月が出てゐるsure enough the moon of Shinano has come out
なるほど しなのの つきが でて いるnaruhodo shinano no tsuki ga dete iru

「若水君と共に高遠城阯へ、緑平老に一句」と前書がある。友と登った高遠城阯に、月が出た。なるほど、これが信濃の月か。遠くまで来た実感が「なるほど」にこもる。Headed "To the ruins of Takatō castle with Wakasui; a verse for old Ryokuhei." On the castle ruins he climbed with his friend, the moon has come out. Sure enough — so this is the moon of Shinano. The sense of having come so far is caught in that "sure enough."
