昭和二年から三年、山陽道、山陰道、四国九州をあてもなくさまよっていた頃の句。道もない秋草の原を踏み分けてゆく。萩よ、すすきよ、と呼びかける相手は、草しかいない。From around 1927–28, when he wandered without aim along the Sanyō and San'in roads and through Shikoku and Kyūshū. He pushes through a field of autumn grasses where there is no path. The bush clover and pampas grass he calls out to are his only company.
