道ばたにちょっとした茶店があり、空瓶に菊が活けてある。花瓶ではなく空瓶であるところに、飾らない暮らしの手つきが見える。旅の途中の一服が、その菊でふっとやわらぐ。By the roadside there is a small teahouse, with chrysanthemums arranged in an empty bottle. That it is an empty bottle and not a vase shows the unadorned handiwork of an ordinary life. A rest in mid-journey is softened, just so, by those chrysanthemums.
