がちゃがちゃと呼ばれる轡虫が、その名の通りの声でひたすら鳴いている。鳴くよりほかにしようがない――それは虫のことでもあり、句を作るよりほかにない自分のことでもあるだろう。The katydid, called gachagacha in Japanese, cries on and on in the very voice of its name. Nothing to do but cry — that is true of the insect, and surely also of the poet, who has nothing to do but make poems.
