三月に東へ旅立ったときの句。歩くうちに季節がすすみ、気がつけば水たまりにおたまじゃくしが泳いでいる。旅の長さを、暦ではなく生きものの育ちぐあいで知る。せかすものの何もない時間が、ゆったりと流れている。Written when he set out east in March. As he walks the season moves on, and before he knows it tadpoles are swimming in a puddle. He measures the length of the journey not by the calendar but by the growth of a living thing. A leisurely time flows on, with nothing to hurry it.
