百舌鳥が鋭く叫び、木の葉がはらはらと散る。声と散る葉、ふたつの「や」が畳みかけるように響き合う。秋の深まりが、耳と目から同時にやってくる。A shrike cries out sharply, and the leaves flutter down. The voice and the falling leaves, two 'ya' exclamations, ring against each other in quick succession. The deepening of autumn arrives through ear and eye at once.
