訪ねてくる人もない庵で、唐辛子だけが日ごとに赤くなってゆく。人の来ない時間の長さを、実の色づきが静かに教えてくれる。さびしさと、それを見届ける張り合いとが、ひとつになった句。At the hermitage where no visitor comes, only the chili peppers grow redder by the day. The length of time in which no one comes is told quietly by the reddening of the fruit. Loneliness, and the small purpose of witnessing it, become one in this poem.
