ことばをたどるFollow the words
鳴き声がそのまま名前になった蝉。鳴いて、また鳴いて、それ以外に言うことがない。夏の終わりを告げるその声を、山頭火も聞こえたまま句にした。おかしみとさみしさが、ひとつの声に同居している。今朝もどこかで鳴いているだろうか。A cicada whose call became its very name. It cries, and cries again, and has nothing else to say. Santōka too made a poem of that voice — the one that announces summer's end — just as he heard it. Comedy and loneliness share a single call. Is it crying somewhere again this morning?
