結婚したという子に贈った句。男郎花と女郎花、秋の野に並んで咲く二つの花にことよせて、夫婦仲よく咲きそろえと祝う。「べし」の重なりに、ことば遊びの温かさがある。A verse sent to a young person said to have married. Playing on otokoeshi (the "male flower," white patrinia) and ominaeshi (the "female flower," golden patrinia), the two autumn blooms that stand side by side in the fields, he wishes the couple a life of blooming happily together. The doubled "beshi" gives the wordplay a warm, well-wishing lilt.
