いつしか明けてゐる茶の花somehow it has grown light — tea flowers

気がつけば、いつのまにか夜が明けている。ほの白い光のなかに、茶の花のちいさな白がまじっている。初冬の庵の、音のない夜明け。明けたことにさえ気づかないような、しずかなしずかな朝のはじまりが、そのまま句になっている。Before he notices, day has broken, and in the faint white light there is the small white of the tea flowers. A soundless daybreak at the hermitage in early winter. A morning so quiet he barely registers that it has come — that hush becomes the whole poem.
