みんな出て征く山の青さのいよいよ青くthey all march off to war — the green of the mountains greener still

村の男たちがみんな出征していく。人の減っていく村を囲んで、山はいよいよ青さを増す。人が去った分だけ濃くなるような山の色。見送る側に残された者の目に、その青さは沁みたにちがいない。The men of the village are all going off to war. Around the emptying village, the mountains only deepen their green. It is as though the color grows richer for every person who leaves. To those left behind to see them off, that greenness must have cut to the heart.
