福沢諭吉の旧邸を訪ねての句。古い土蔵は昔のままに残り、かたわらの青木が赤い実をつけている。偉人の跡というより、ひっそりとした冬の庭をそのまま見ている目である。A poem written on visiting the former residence of Fukuzawa Yukichi. The old earthen storehouse remains just as it was, and beside it an aucuba shrub bears its red berries. Rather than the trace of a great man, it is a hushed winter garden that the eye simply beholds.
