人を見送って、ひとりで帰る道はぬかるんでいる。行きはふたり分だった足音が、帰りはひとり分。ぬかるみに取られる足の重さが、別れの重さと重なる。Having seen a visitor off, he comes home alone down a muddy road. The footsteps that were for two on the way out are for one on the way back. The heaviness of feet caught in the mud overlaps with the heaviness of parting.
