九月、四国巡礼の旅に出るときの句。鴉が飛んでゆく。それなら自分も、水を渡って行こう。鳥の身軽さに背中を押されるような、最晩年の旅立ちの一句。ためらいのない「わたらう」のひとことが、朝の最初の一歩によく似合う。Written as he set out in September on his pilgrimage of Shikoku. A crow goes flying. Then let me too cross the water and go. A poem of his last years' departure, as if pushed on by the bird's lightness. The unhesitating "let me cross" suits well the first step of a morning.
