関門の海を渡る船上での句。遠ざかる岸の向こう、ふるさとの山なみに雪が輝いている。捨てたはずの故郷が、離れる時にいちばん美しく見える。船はかまわず進んでいく。A poem aboard ship crossing the Kanmon strait. Beyond the receding shore, snow shines on the mountain range of his old home. The home he was supposed to have cast off looks most beautiful just as he leaves it. The ship pushes on regardless.
