解説Notes

物音がして、誰か来たかと思えば、枇杷の厚い葉が落ちただけだった。がっかりしたとも言わず「おちるだけ」と結ぶ。人を待つ心が、葉の音ひとつに聞き耳を立てている。A sound — he thinks someone has come, but it was only a thick loquat leaf falling. He does not say he is disappointed; he ends simply with "only falling." A heart waiting for someone strains to listen at the sound of a single leaf.
